Celebration of Life Services Across the UK
I'm Shaun, and over the past ten years I've had the privilege of supporting hundreds of celebration of life services across the UK — from intimate gatherings in village halls and private homes to larger events in hotels, function rooms, and outdoor spaces.
A celebration of life service offers a more personal, flexible, and meaningful way to honour a loved one. Unlike a traditional funeral, these gatherings are often held after a direct cremation and can take place weeks, months, or even a year later — giving families the time and space to plan something that truly reflects the person being remembered, without the pressure of a tight timeframe.
My role is to make sure every part of the day is captured, shared, and experienced properly — whether that's streaming the event for family watching from abroad, filming it for the family to keep, photographing the natural moments and interactions throughout, or providing the screens, sound, and technical setup the venue needs. I handle everything as one coordinated service, so you only ever have one person to deal with.
What is a Celebration of Life Service?
A celebration of life service is a gathering that focuses on remembering and honouring a person's life in a way that feels right for their family. These services are often less formal than traditional funerals and can be tailored entirely to reflect the personality, interests, and memories of the person who has died.
They can include speeches, music, video tributes, photo slideshows, open microphones, shared memories, and moments for quiet reflection — creating an atmosphere that feels personal, warm, and uplifting, while still holding real meaning and respect.
Because there is no coffin present, these services are not limited to churches or crematoria. Families can choose almost any venue — and the service can happen on a timeline that works for everyone, not one dictated by funeral arrangements.
Where Celebration of Life Services Can Take Place
One of the things I love about celebration of life services is the variety of places they happen. I've covered them in village halls, hotels, function rooms, private homes and gardens, sports clubs, pub function rooms, memorial woodland sites, and outdoor spaces of all kinds.
The absence of a coffin means venue choice is genuinely open, and many families choose somewhere that meant something to the person — a place they loved, a club they were part of, or simply a space that feels right for the kind of gathering they want to create.
Each setting brings its own practical considerations around sound, lighting, and connectivity, and that's where experience matters. I arrive early at every venue, assess the space, and set everything up before guests arrive — so nothing is left to chance on the day.
How I Support Celebration of Life Services
Celebration of life services often bring together several different elements, and I provide a complete range of services to support every part of the day. Everything is managed by me personally, with care, discretion, and attention to detail throughout.
Live Streaming
I provide live funeral streaming adapted for celebration of life events, allowing family and friends anywhere in the world to take part in real time using a secure private link. Viewers simply click the link on their phone, tablet, laptop or smart TV — no apps or accounts required.
Videography
My videography service captures the full event — speeches, tributes, musical performances, and the atmosphere of the gathering — creating a lasting film that can be revisited and shared in the years ahead. Because celebration of life services tend to be more relaxed and personal, the filming style reflects that, focusing on natural moments and genuine emotion.
Photography
Through discreet documentary photography, I capture the natural moments, interactions, and details throughout the event — the hugs, the laughter, the tears, the small gestures that make these gatherings so meaningful. Families typically receive several hundred carefully edited photographs, delivered via a secure private gallery.
Slideshows & Tribute Films
I create personalised slideshows and tribute films that can be shown during the event, combining photographs, video clips, music, and voice recordings to tell the story of a life. These can be displayed as guests arrive, played at key moments during the service, or shared online with family and friends who cannot attend.
AV & Equipment Hire
I provide professional audio visual support for venues that don't have their own systems — microphones, PA speakers, televisions, and projection equipment — ensuring that everything is clearly heard and seen regardless of the setting. Many celebration of life services take place in venues without built-in AV, and having someone experienced with the technical side means the day runs without interruption.
Why Families Choose a Celebration of Life Service
More and more families are choosing celebration of life services, and it's easy to understand why. They offer more time to plan, more freedom to personalise, and more flexibility to bring together the people who mattered to the person being remembered — particularly when family and friends are spread across the country or the world.
Without the tight timeframe of a traditional funeral, there is space to include things that a conventional service often can't accommodate — extended tributes, live music, video presentations, a shared meal, or an open microphone where anyone who wants to speak can do so.
For many families, a celebration of life becomes a genuinely positive and uplifting occasion — something that feels less like an ending and more like a proper, personal tribute to a life well lived.

Combining Services for a Complete Experience
Most celebration of life services I cover involve more than one service, and having everything managed through one person makes a significant difference to how smoothly the day runs.
Live streaming, videography, photography, slideshows, and AV support can all work together seamlessly when they're coordinated by the same person. There's no confusion between different suppliers, no risk of equipment conflicting, and no additional stress for the family on the day.
I'm used to managing all of these elements at once and have done so at services of all sizes — from small intimate gatherings to larger events with hundreds of guests. If you're unsure which combination of services would work best for what you have in mind, I'm always happy to talk it through.
Celebration of Life Prices & Packages
Every celebration of life service is different, and pricing varies depending on the services required, the length of coverage, and the venue setup. Some families need simple filming or streaming; others choose a full package including photography, slideshows, and AV support.
I provide clear, tailored quotes based on your specific requirements, so you know exactly what is included and what everything will cost before you commit to anything. There are no hidden charges and no surprises.
Funeral live streaming starts from £650. Funeral photography or Funeral Videography starts from £750. Combined packages are quoted individually based on what you need.
What is the difference between a funeral and a celebration of life service?
A traditional funeral usually takes place shortly after a passing and follows a more structured format, typically within a church or crematorium, with the coffin present. A celebration of life service is usually held later — sometimes weeks, months, or even a year after a direct cremation — with no coffin present, in a wider range of venues, and with a much more flexible and personalised format. The focus is on celebrating and remembering a person's life rather than following a prescribed ceremony.
Can a celebration of life service be live streamed?
Yes — and I do this regularly. Celebration of life services can be live streamed in exactly the same way as a funeral, allowing family and friends around the world to take part in real time. I provide a secure private viewing link that works on any device, with no apps or accounts needed. The recording is also available afterwards for those who couldn't join live.
Do you film celebration of life services?
Yes. I provide full videography coverage for celebration of life events, capturing speeches, tributes, and the atmosphere of the gathering to create a lasting film the family can revisit and share. Because these services are often more relaxed and personal, the filming style reflects this — natural, unobtrusive, and focused on the moments that matter.
Can you provide AV equipment for alternative venues?
Yes. Many celebration of life services take place in venues without built-in sound or visual systems. I provide professional audio visual support including microphones, PA speakers, televisions, and projection equipment, ensuring everything is clearly heard and seen regardless of the setting or size of the venue.
Can slideshows and tribute videos be included?
Yes — and they're one of the most popular elements of celebration of life services. I can create and display slideshows and tribute films during the event, combining photographs, video clips, music, and voiceovers to tell a personal story. These can be shown as guests arrive, at key moments during the service, or both. You can find out more on my funeral slideshows page.
How far in advance should a celebration of life service be planned?
There is no fixed timeline — that's one of the main advantages of this type of service. Some families plan within a few weeks of a direct cremation; others take several months. The flexibility is entirely yours. I'd recommend getting in touch as soon as you have a date in mind to confirm availability, but please do ask even if the date is soon — I'll always do my best to help.
Can multiple services be combined?
Yes, and most families do exactly this. Live streaming, videography, photography, slideshows, and AV support can all be combined into one coordinated booking — managed by me throughout, with a single point of contact from first enquiry to final delivery.
Where do you provide celebration of life services?
I travel across the UK to support celebration of life services — including London and the South East, the Midlands, Yorkshire, Wales, Scotland, and many areas in between. I'm used to working in a wide range of venues and adapting to whatever the setting requires. If you're not sure whether I cover your area, just get in touch and ask.
