Funeral Videographer & Funeral Films in 4K, Across the UK

I'm Shaun Foulds, a specialist funeral videographer. For more than ten years I've personally covered over 2,500 funerals across the UK. I film every funeral myself, so the person you speak to is the person who arrives on the day.

I don't think you'll find better quality funeral films anywhere: every film is shot on Sony Alpha cinema cameras in 4K and carefully edited, so it looks really lovely.

My funeral videography gives your family a lasting funeral video of the day: the arrivals, the service, the tributes, the music and, where needed, the graveside or celebration of life afterwards. I film discreetly, then edit everything in my office into a finished film you can keep and share. I've got lots of funeral films for you to watch in my funeral videography portfolio.

  • Funeral videography from £750

  • Filmed and delivered in 4K

  • As many of your own photos and videos as you like, woven into your film (quoted as an extra)

  • Consistent five-star Google reviews

  • No travel limit across the UK, and short-notice bookings welcome

What Your Funeral Video Includes

Every funeral filming booking includes:

  • Me, at the funeral in person, from setting up to the last shot

  • A minimum of two cameras, filming in 4K on Sony Alpha cinema cameras: one wide shot of the whole service, and one on the speakers and the congregation's reactions and quiet moments of reflection

  • Drone shots when the setting allows. I often arrive early to film the venue from above, and sometimes return to the cemetery after everyone has left

  • Dedicated microphones, so readings, tributes and music are heard clearly

  • Coverage of arrivals, the venue and floral tributes where appropriate

  • Graveside or committal filming when needed

  • Careful editing and colour grading in my office after the day

  • Licensed music added to your film (I use Artlist), and you can choose it

  • A first draft for you to watch, so you can suggest any changes before the final film

  • Your finished funeral film in 4K, sent as a download link. The link stays live for 3 months, so you can download the file, keep it and share it or host it however you like

  • No charges for the family to watch or download the finished film

  • Optional: as many of your own photos and videos as you like, woven into your film (quoted as an extra)

Two Kinds of Funeral Film

You can choose one of two funeral films. If you're not sure which suits your family, tell me about the day and I'll help you decide.

A Full Funeral Film of the Day

A full film of the day with all of the original audio from the service, so every reading, tribute and piece of music is heard as it was. I then wrap it with cinematic extras, such as the setting, the arrivals, the flowers and the quieter moments, so it feels like a film rather than a plain recording.

A full film usually runs between 1.5 and 4 hours, depending on the day. A single church service is typically 1 to 1.5 hours, while a Caribbean funeral covering four locations can run to around 4 hours.

A Short Cinematic Funeral Film

A short cinematic overview of the day, about 4 to 5 minutes long, that shows everything in detail, set to music. I've made these for many families recently. They work particularly well for natural burials, celebrations of life and families who want the atmosphere of the day rather than a full-length recording.

One example is the cinematic funeral film I created at Henley Natural Burial Ground.

I've got lots more examples of both kinds of film in my funeral videography portfolio.

“He creates beautiful, simple films that capture funerals sensitively and respectfully and I would highly recommend him to anyone.”

Who a Funeral Film Is For

A funeral can pass in a blur, and it's hard to take in every word. A funeral film lets you watch the tributes, readings and music again when you're ready.

It's also for the people who couldn't be there: relatives overseas, friends who were too unwell to travel, and children who were too young to come, who can watch it when they're older. And it's a record of the day for your family in the years ahead. Because you keep the film, you can share it with whoever you like.

Your Own Photos and Videos, as Many as You Like

If you'd like your own memories in the film too, I can bring in as many of your photos and as many of your own videos as you like, woven into your funeral film alongside the footage from the day.

This is quoted to what you ask for. Tell me what you'd like included and I'll send you a clear quote.

If you'd prefer a separate photo slideshow or tribute film to play during the service, see funeral slideshows and tribute films.

Funeral Videography Prices

So, how much does a funeral videographer cost? My funeral videography starts from £750 for a single location, and that includes:

  • me, at the funeral in person, from setting up to the last shot

  • a minimum of two cameras, filming in 4K on Sony Alpha cinema cameras

  • dedicated microphones, so readings, tributes and music are heard clearly

  • drone shots of churches, crematoriums and burial grounds when possible

  • careful editing and colour grading, with licensed music you can choose

  • a first draft to watch, with changes if you'd like them

  • your finished film in 4K, sent as a download link (live for 3 months) so you can keep the file

  • no charges for the family to watch or download the film

Some funeral videographers charge extra for a second camera or for a download of the film. I include both as standard, because every funeral needs two cameras to be filmed properly, and every family should be able to keep their film. I think that's fairer and more honest.

When you compare quotes, watch some full films, not just short highlights. Look at the video quality, the audio quality, the composition, the colours and the whole creative finished film, because these can vary hugely from one funeral videographer to another. It's also worth asking whether the film is shot in 4K, how many cameras are used, and whether the person you speak to is the person who films.

  • Extra locations, such as the family home, a graveside or the reception, are quoted individually, based on what you tell me about the day.

  • Interviews with family and friends at the reception are free if you'd like them, because I'm already there filming. I sometimes do these, especially for Caribbean and African funerals.

  • Your own photos and videos can be woven into your funeral film, as many as you like, quoted to what you ask for.

  • Slideshows, sound systems, TVs and projectors are separate from the film and quoted if you ask for them. See funeral slideshows and tribute films and funeral AV support.

  • Live streaming and photography are always extra, because I bring in more of my team for them. Funeral live streaming starts from £650 and funeral photography starts from £750.

Tell me the date, the venues and what you'd like filmed, and I'll send you a clear quote.

4K Funeral Filming on Cinema Cameras

I don't think you'll find better quality funeral films anywhere. Every funeral film I make is shot on Sony Alpha cinema cameras in 4K, edited carefully in my office, and delivered to you in 4K. Not just when the venue or the light allows: 4K is how I always film.

  • Sharp on a big TV: 4K has four times as many pixels as Full HD (1080p), so faces, flowers, the order of service and the venue stay sharp, even on a large TV.

  • Clear in dim churches: many churches are dimly lit. Good cinema cameras keep the picture clear in low light, where lesser cameras turn grainy.

  • Delivered in 4K: your finished funeral film comes to you in 4K.

  • Edited with care: I edit every film carefully in my office after the day.

Funeral videography isn't live. I don't use a live vision mixer for it. I film on the day, then edit every film carefully in my office. That's why the finished film takes around three weeks.

A Funeral Film or the Crematorium's Recording?

Many crematoriums can record or stream the service from fixed cameras in the chapel. That gives you a recording of the chapel service. A funeral film from me is different:

  • I'm there in person, with a minimum of two 4K Sony Alpha cinema cameras and dedicated microphones

  • I film the arrivals, the flowers and the setting, with drone shots when the setting allows

  • I can follow the day beyond the chapel: the family home, the graveside or the reception

  • I edit everything carefully into a film, with music you can choose, and you keep the file in 4K

If the crematorium's recording is all you need, that's fine. If you'd like the day kept as a proper film, that's what I do.

How Funeral Filming Works

  1. Get in touch by phone, text or the contact form. Short-notice bookings are welcome.

  2. Tell me about the day: the date, the venues, whether you'd like a full funeral film or a short cinematic film, and anything you'd especially like filmed or left out.

  3. I'll confirm availability and send you a clear quote.

  4. On the day, I attend personally, arrive early and manage the filming quietly from the edge of the room.

  5. I edit your film in my office, adding licensed music (you can choose it) and any extras you've asked for.

  6. You watch a first draft and suggest any changes you'd like.

  7. You receive a download link to your finished film in 4K, around three weeks after the funeral. Sometimes it's a little sooner, sometimes a little longer. The link stays live for 3 months, so you can download the file, keep it and share it with family or host it however you like.

Funeral Filming and Live Streaming on the Same Day

Funeral live streaming is for people who can't be there on the day. They watch as the service happens. Funeral videography is for the family afterwards: a funeral video you keep, edited, clearer and shaped to the tone of the day.

Many families book both: the live stream for relatives overseas, and the edited film as a lasting record. I can live stream and film the same funeral on my own. If you'd like streaming and cinematic filming across several locations, I may bring in members of my team, but I always run the day myself.

A Discreet Funeral Videographer

Is it OK to film or record a funeral? Yes, when it's done quietly. I always use a minimum of two cameras, set up before anyone arrives, so I'm not moving around during the service. I work from the edge of the room, arrive early, and stay out of the way of the family, funeral director and celebrant.

If there are parts of the day you'd rather I didn't film, such as close-ups of family, an open coffin, the committal or private prayers, tell me beforehand and I'll leave them out. If there are moments you especially want, like a particular reading or tradition, tell me those too.

I film lots of Hindu, Sikh, Caribbean, Nigerian, Zimbabwean, Chinese and Buddhist funerals, as well as church services, Catholic, Jewish, military, humanist and non-religious services and natural burials. I film in churches, gurdwaras, mosques, crematoriums, cemeteries, natural burial grounds, family homes and celebration of life venues.

What Families Say

I'm consistently rated 5 star on Google. Here are a few from families and a celebrant about my funeral videography.

Shaun did an incredible job with the funeral videography of our family funeral. This was so important to us as we wanted to share the service with our families in Jamaica, Barbados, and the rest of the world.

From start to finish, Shaun was incredibly easy to work with. His availability during out-of-hours and late at night was a pleasant surprise. The finished video he produced exceeded our expectations. He captured all the culturally significant aspects of the funeral, ensuring nothing was missed. He worked tirelessly throughout the day, filming the family home, the church, the open coffin, the burial, and the wake. He wasn't intrusive, but worked diligently and with the greatest respect.

The crisp quality of the video and audio was beyond anything we or our family had ever seen before. We are absolutely thrilled with our choice and feel lucky to have found him. We cannot recommend him enough.

— Winston, Jamaican Funeral ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Shaun gave us very good and clear advice at the start. Worked tirelessly to make sure everything was just as we wanted it. Completed the videos in a very short window. Also completed extra videos and dealt with the funeral directors on our behalf. Has answered a million questions along the way with good grace and patience. The outcome has been amazing and provided a true tribute to my dad and a keepsake that we can play again and again. Shaun made us feel confident that he had our backs throughout. Shaun we can't thank you enough.

— Alison, April 2025 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

So happy with Shaun's video of my Mummy's garden funeral / farewell. He's done an excellent job with additional editing & we will treasure this video forever. Debbie

— Deborah Corcoran ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Shaun is an absolute pleasure to work with; efficient, discreet, highly professional. He creates beautiful, simple films that capture funerals sensitively and respectfully and I would highly recommend him to anyone.
