Funeral Live Streaming FAQs

What's the best way to live stream a funeral?

The best way is with proper equipment and someone experienced running it from start to finish. I use two Sony Alpha cinema cameras as standard, sometimes a third, and stream in 1080p. There's a full sound setup, with microphones and a vision mixer to switch between cameras. I bring four bonded 4G/5G connections, with Starlink satellite as a backup (+£75, only when it's used), and a full-quality backup recorder runs the whole time, so if the signal drops, the service can be uploaded afterwards. Your family gets a dedicated Boxcast viewing page with no adverts, private or open, and there's no limit on viewers. My record is more than 3,000 devices on one stream. The recording stays online for 3 months. I attend every stream myself, and I've covered more than 2,500 funerals over more than ten years. Prices start from £650.

Can a funeral be live streamed?

Yes. Most venues allow live streaming, but it's always worth checking with the venue or the minister first. I stream at churches, gravesides, wakes, natural burial grounds and celebration of life venues, and I can follow the day from one place to the next, with each extra location from £250. Most crematoriums have their own cameras, but sometimes families want better quality and ask me to cover the crematorium instead. I bring my own internet, so a venue without Wi-Fi isn't a problem. There's no travel limit anywhere in the UK, and I take short-notice bookings. Streaming starts from £650, and I attend every stream myself.

How long can we rewatch the funeral stream?

Your private stream link stays live for 3 months after the funeral, so anyone who couldn't watch live can catch up in their own time. Many crematorium and church camera systems only store recordings for a short time and often have limited angles, so this gives you peace of mind that the service won't be lost. How many people can watch?

There's no limit. My largest single stream has reached more than 3,000 devices.

Is the live stream private?

You decide. A password-protected page gives the most control. A link without a password is easier to share, but anyone who has it can pass it on. Unless you ask for a public broadcast, I set the page to discourage search engines from listing it.

What happens if the connection drops?

It rarely does, because I bond several networks and carry Starlink. The cameras also record on site the whole time, so you'll always have the full service afterwards.

Can you stream a service with hymns and recorded music?

Yes. My full PRS for Music licence covers funeral live streaming nationwide, so there's nothing for the church or the family to arrange.

Can you stream at short notice?

Yes. Call me as soon as you have a date. If I'm free, I can even stream a funeral the next day.

Do you send someone else to run the stream?

No. I attend every stream myself and manage the whole day.

Funeral Videography FAQs

How much does a funeral videographer cost?

My funeral videography starts from £750 for a single location. That includes me at the funeral in person, a minimum of two 4K cameras, dedicated microphones, careful editing and your finished film as a 4K download. Extra locations, such as the family home, graveside or reception, are quoted individually. Tell me about the day and I'll send you a clear quote.

Is it OK to film a funeral?

Yes, when it's done quietly and with your family's wishes in mind. I set my cameras up before anyone arrives, work from the edge of the room and stay out of the way of the family, funeral director and celebrant. If there's anything you'd rather I didn't film, like an open coffin or private prayers, just tell me beforehand and I'll leave it out.

Doesn't the crematorium record the service anyway?

Many crematoriums can record the chapel service from fixed cameras, and if that's all you need, that's fine. A film from me is different. I'm there in person with at least two 4K cinema cameras and dedicated microphones, I can follow the day beyond the chapel to the arrivals, graveside or reception, and I edit it all carefully into a film with music you can choose.

How long until we receive the funeral video?

Usually around three weeks after the funeral, sometimes a little sooner, sometimes a little longer. I edit every film carefully in my office and send you a first draft to watch, so you can suggest any changes. Your finished film then arrives in 4K as a download link, which stays live for 3 months so you can keep the file and share it.

How long is a funeral film?

You can choose. A short cinematic film is about 4 to 5 minutes, set to music, and works beautifully for natural burials and celebrations of life. A full film keeps all of the original audio from the service and usually runs between 1.5 and 4 hours. A single church service is typically 1 to 1.5 hours.

Can we share the funeral video with family who couldn't be there?

Yes. You keep the file, so you can share it with whoever you like, including relatives overseas and friends who couldn't travel. The music in my films is licensed through Artlist, so you can share your film on Facebook, YouTube or wherever suits you. There are no charges for your family to watch or download it.

Funeral Photography FAQs

How much does a funeral photographer cost?

My funeral photography starts from £750. That always covers the main service, professionally edited images and a private online gallery. Additional locations, such as the graveside, the family home or the reception, are quoted as extras depending on the coverage you'd like. Every quote is clear, with no hidden charges. Just tell me the date, time and venue.

Is it appropriate to have a photographer at a funeral?

Yes. Many families want the day recorded properly, often for relatives who couldn't attend, or for children to look back on when they're older. Photographs hold who came, how the room felt, the flowers and the small moments that are gone once the day is over. If your immediate family feel it shouldn't be photographed, that's a good reason not to book.

Will people notice you taking photographs?

Hardly at all, I hope. I arrive early, work from the edges of the room and never use flash. I don't pose or direct anyone, and at the most private moments I lower the camera. Most families tell me they barely noticed I was there. If anyone asks me not to photograph them, I don't.

How many photos will we receive, and when?

Typically 500 to 750 professionally edited images, each one colour graded, sharpened and carefully selected. Your gallery arrives within 2 to 3 weeks as a private, password-protected online gallery that's easy to view, download and share with family. Prints and albums can be ordered too, if you'd like them.

Can you photograph and film or live stream the same funeral?

Yes. Photography can be combined with funeral live streaming, from £650, or funeral videography, from £750. Each service has its own dedicated specialist, so when you book more than one I bring in more of my team and nothing is rushed. I still attend every funeral myself. Do you cover my area?

Yes. I photograph funerals across the whole of the UK with no travel limit, mainly in London, and I take short-notice bookings.
