Yorkshire Funeral Photographer - A Viking Funeral

Viking-Themed Funeral at Grenoside Crematorium, Sheffield

Today I had the unique honour of documenting a Viking-themed funeral at Grenoside Crematorium, nestled in the rolling hills of Sheffield, South Yorkshire. The warm spring weather made for a perfect setting to celebrate Ethan’s life in a way that truly reflected his spirit.

This was my first visit to Grenoside Crematorium, and the team on-site were warm and welcoming. After a quick chat and setup, I was ready to film what would turn out to be one of the most colourful and moving services I’ve attended.

The ceremony was filled with vibrant tributes—friends and family wore bright clothing and Viking helmets, dancing and singing to honour Ethan’s memory. There was music, heartfelt speeches, and a wonderful atmosphere of celebration. Funeral Celebrant Sue McFalone led the service beautifully and even played a Beatles song on guitar, creating an unforgettable moment of joy and reflection.

It was a pleasure to work alongside Simpson and Son Funeral Directors, who ensured every detail of the day ran smoothly.

Although I was booked primarily to film the event, I captured a few stills throughout the day to share with the family and provide a sense of how we work.

It was nice to work with Funeral Celebrant Sue McFalone who was amazing. As well as leading the service she also played a Beetles song on the Guitar! Wow she’s good. Great to meet Simpson and Son Funeral Directors
